Celebrating Business in Dutchess County

Ashworth Creative contributed design, writing, and art direction skills to Th!nk Dutchess Magazine which was produced in print and digital formats and is now more than eighty pages.

The magazine is distributed to potential businesses interested in moving into the Dutchess County area. It highlights assets and selling points unique to the County, including our multiple colleges—Vassar, Dutchess Community College, Marist, Bard, and The Culinary Institute of America—each innovative institutions in their own right and which draw students from around the world to the area, and whose graduates often choose to stay in Dutchess, enriching the area with their talent.

Th!nk Dutchess Magazine also provides a detailed profile of the county, including a list of towns in and their population counts, an at-a-glance economic profile of the area workforce, and in-depth articles about businesses and industries that are thriving in the county.

“The magazine has to be well designed and incorporate a lot of different topics,” explains Phillippa Ewing, Ashworth Creative’s lead Marketing Strategist. “We were tasked with interviewing the senior people in the organizations that we were profiling and summarizing the information in interesting articles.y.”

Ashworth’s extensive experience with print and web design played a key role in the development of the magazine. It was important to lay out the more than 80 pages of information in a way that enabled people to easily browse the magazine, track what they were interested in, and remain engaged.

Says Phillippa, “It was a real team effort between the designers and the writers that extended from the website that Ashworth Creative designed, which also won an International Economic Development Award.”

Approaching the project as a creative team was critical. The design informed the best way to engage people, while the copy and photographs kept them interested.

Highlighting the best of Dutchess County

When someone is considering establishing a business in a new area, they want to know that it’s a good place to live, work, and play. Th!nk Dutchess Magazine’s was able to demonstrate this for the DCEDO, providing them with the opportunity to showcase Dutchess County as a place where good things are happening, whether it’s people doing farm to table food or people growing Christmas trees and anemones.

The entire magazine is available online at ThinkDutchess.com, with accompanying resources for entrepreneurs interested in launching a new venture from scratch or expanding an existing business.

Ashworth’s pivotal strength as a multi-channel marketing agency is being able to work across channels and mediums, creating elegant designs that work well online and offline.

Congratulations to the Ashworth Creative team of designers, writers, photographers, and web developers for their hard work on this essential regional resource.
